At BeadHub, we strive to present our customers with good quality gemstones, beads and findings at reasonable prices, and with a warm and friendly service. If you have a difficulty with beading, bead jewellery or actualizing a particular design, visit us, and Sook Ying or our associates (Cerena, Eileen, Mei) at the shop may be able to give you practical advice or suggest a new direction (to the best of our ability). |

Sook Ying took over the BeadHub business in April 2007. Prior to that, she spent one year each studying jewellery design & production at the Nayang Academy of Fine Arts and at the Raffles Design Institute. Besides actual jewellery design and jewellery-making using raw silver metal (yes, the 925 sterling silver had to be handmade), she also learnt about the design process, visual presentation and photography.
Since the 1990s, Sook Ying has taken various workshops with Tanja Sadow at Justanja Pte Ltd (now evolved into the JDMIS). She loves to thread knotted pearl necklaces, wirework with beads and gemstones, and make the occasional Art Clay Silver jewellery and Chinese knots and tassels. In the future, she hopes to make more jewellery and mini-sculptures at her as-yet-non-existent *proper* work-bench.
Sook Ying has been helping at her mum's shop selling jade jewellery, since she could count tiny bits of stone reliably. All this training, plus her almost 10 years experience at banks pushing papers and talking to clients, has helped her to take care of the daily operations of the business.
Sook Ying is married with a very supportive husband and 2 cute kids. |
