These Shell Based Pearls are made from a core bead of natural Mother of Pearl, which is coated with a special pearlescent skin. The technology has been perfected over 25 years to create a realistic orient with depth. Natural inclusions in the underlying Mother of Pearl beads give each necklace its own personality and characteristic fingerprint. Our range of Shell Based Pearls are made with about 12 layers of coating, instead of the usual 3-4 layers in other coated man-made pearls. This makes the coating more durable and more resistant to perspiration, perfumes and other chemicals that might come into contact with the pearls, compared to cultured pearls or other man-made pearls. However, to protect the underlying Mother of Pearl bead and the stringing material, it's always better to treat these pearl jewellery delicately and to minimise contact with water, perspiration  and other chemicals. We have a range of colours and sizes between 8mm to 16mm. There is a wide selection of findings and jewellery-making components in base metal, 925 Sterling Silver and gold-filled metals. If you don't wish to make your own bead jewellery, we can  custom-make to your requirements or re-string/ repair your existing bead jewellery! Otherwise, you can also participate in one of our short courses to learn how to make bead jewellery yourself. It's easy to pick up the basic skills, and it's very therepeutic to bead! Anyone above 10 years old should give it a try!
